Plants glabrous, with large leaves. Stem erect, robust, branched. Leaves alternate, petiolate, upper ones sessile; petiole 4-5 cm, stout; leaf blade gray-green abaxially, dark green adaxially, ovate or elliptic-lanceolate, 10-15 × 4-5.5 cm, leathery, lateral veins 7 or 8 pairs, midvein and lateral veins conspicuous abaxially, base cuneate in lower and middle leaves, rounded in upper ones, margin crenate or serrate, teeth mucronulate, apex acuminate. Inflorescences in upper leaf axils, 2- or 3-flowered; peduncles fibrous, elongate, 5-6 cm, rigid. Pedicels 1-1.5 cm, slender, bracteate at base; bracts persistent, ovate-lanceolate, 1-1.5 mm. Flowers white, purple-red striate, ca. 2.5 cm deep. Lateral sepals 2, obliquely ovate-orbicular, 0.8-1 cm in diam., inequilateral, lateral veins 5, connected at apex, apex mucronate. Lower sepal funnelform, slightly turgid, ca. 2.5 cm, gradually narrowed into an incurved spur ca. 1.5 cm; mouth ± oblique, ca. 1.2 cm wide, tip obtuse. Upper petal broadly obovate-orbicular, ca. 1.8 cm wide, apex obtuse, abaxial midvein cornute; lateral united petals not clawed, ca. 2.3 cm, 2-lobed; basal lobes orbicular, large; distal lobes oblong, apex obtuse; auricle inflexed, narrow. Filaments linear, short; anthers obtuse. Ovary fusiform. Capsule erect, linear, subtorulose, 2-2.5 cm. Seeds many, black, obovoid, ca. 3 mm, shiny. Fl. Aug.
