Plants annual, 20-30 cm tall. Stem erect, slender, branched, glabrous throughout. Leaves alternate; petiole 5-6 mm, without basal glands; leaf blade elliptic or elliptic-ovate, 1.5-3 × 1-1.5 cm, setose between teeth, lateral veins 5 or 6 pairs, base cuneate or subtruncate, margin crenate, apex acuminate. Inflorescences axillary or terminal, racemose, 5- or 6-flowered; peduncles shorter or longer than leaves. Pedicels 5-7 mm, slender; bracts caducous, small. Flowers purplish, small, 8-9 mm in diam. Lateral sepals 2, falcate, minute. Lower sepal navicular, with a very short spur. Upper petal cucullate, orbicular, abaxial midvein carinate; lateral united petals 2-lobed; lobes orbicular. Anthers short, broad, apex obtuse. Capsule shortly clavate, 0.8-1 cm, 5-angled, densely or sparsely tuberculate along ribs. Seeds few, brown, compressed, oblong. Fl. Aug-Sep.
