Plants annual, 30-70 cm tall. Stem usually simple or shortly branched. Leaves alternate, lower ones caducous; leaf blade gray-green abaxially, dark green adaxially, elliptic or ovate-elliptic, 7-13 × 2.5-5 cm, with 1 or 2 pairs of stipitate glands at basal margin, abaxially laxly adpressed strigose, adaxially glabrous, lateral veins 6 or 7 pairs, base cuneate, narrowed into petiole 1.5-3 cm, margin shallowly crenate, teeth mucronulate, apex acute or acuminate. Inflorescences in upper leaf axils, usually 2-flowered; peduncles 1.5-2 cm, glabrous. Pedicels ca. 2 cm, bracteate at base; bracts persistent, ovate, 4-6 mm, apex acute. Flowers pink, ca. 3 cm deep. Lateral sepals 2, orbicular, ca. 8 mm, apex acute. Lower sepal pink and yellowish, limb navicular, ca. 1.4 cm, abruptly constricted into an involute spur ca. 2.4 cm; mouth vertical, ca. 1.8 cm wide, tip slightly obtuse. Upper petal pink, broadly ovate, ca. 2 × 2.2 cm, apex rounded, abaxial midvein cristate, crista ca. 3 mm high; lateral united petals clawed, ca. 3.8 cm, 2-lobed; basal lobes broadly oblong, ca. 1.6 × 1 cm, apex rounded; distal lobes ovate-dolabriform, ca. 2.5 × 1.1 cm, apex rounded; auricle inflexed, reniform. Filaments linear; anthers obtuse. Ovary fusiform, glabrous. Capsule linear or ?clavate. Fl. May. 2n = 16*.
