Plants ca. 45 cm tall. Leaves alternate, crowded at upper part of stem, petiolate or nearly sessile in upper leaves; petiole 3.5-5 cm; leaf blade elliptic, 9-12 × 3.5-4 cm, both surfaces nearly glabrous, base attenuate into petiole, margin crenate, apex acute to acuminate. Inflorescences in upper leaf axils, pendulous beneath subtending leaf, racemose, usually with 2 flowers and few aggregated small flower buds; peduncles ca. 1.5 cm, glabrous. Pedicels ca. 1.5 cm, glabrous, bracteate at base; bracts not caducous, ovate, 5-7 mm, apex acute. Flowers pale yellow, large, ca. 2 cm, ca. 4 cm deep. Lateral sepals 4; outer 2: obliquely broadly ovate, ca. 1.5 × 1.2 cm, apex acute; inner 2: longer, linear, ca. 1.8 cm, apex acuminate. Lower sepal pale yellow, with reddish veins, saccate, ca. 2.4 cm, ca. 1.7 cm deep excluding spur, abruptly narrowed into an incurved spur ca. 8 mm (ca. 2 cm overall); mouth oblique. Upper petal pale yellow, with reddish veins, broadly obovate, ca. 1.6 × 2 cm, apex slightly retuse, mucronulate, abaxial midvein thickened, carinate; lateral united petals pale yellow, with reddish veins, ca. 2.8 cm, 2-lobed; basal lobes narrowly obovate, ca. 1.8 × 0.7 cm, apex acute; distal lobes obovate, ca. 1.3 × 1 cm, apex retuse; auricle inflexed, rounded. Anthers ovoid, apex acute, connective glabrous. Fl. Oct. 2n = 34*.
