Plants annual, 30-60 cm tall, subglabrous. Stem erect, slender; branchlets spreading. Leaves alternate; petiole 3-4 cm, without basal glands; leaf blade pale green abaxially, green adaxially, ovate-oblong, membranous, glabrous, lateral veins 6 or 7 pairs, fine, base rounded, or cuneate and attenuate into petiole, margin crenate or crenate-serrate, apex acuminate. Inflorescences in upper leaf axils, 2-flowered; peduncles 2-3 cm, slender, glabrous or puberulent. Pedicels short, 0.3-3 cm, elongate at fruiting, bracteate at base or above; bracts persistent, lanceolate, 3-5 mm. Flowers pink-purple, small, to 2 cm. Lateral sepals 2, ovate, ca. 7 mm, glabrous or puberulent, 3-veined, apex acuminate, mucronulate. Lower sepal navicular, ca. 1.5 cm deep, narrowed into a slightly incurved spur; spur stout, obtuse; mouth oblique, tip acute. Upper petal orbicular, ca. 1.4 cm in diam., base retuse, apex rounded, rostellate, abaxial midvein thickened, broadly carinate; lateral united petals not clawed, 2-2.5 cm, 2-lobed; basal lobes purple along margin, orbicular or crved, small; distal lobes dolabriform, larger, apically often retuse; auricle linear, elongate, inserted into spur. Filaments short, broad; anthers ovoid, apex acute. Ovary erect, fusiform. Capsule erect or curved, linear, 3-4 cm. Seeds many, brown, ovoid-oblong, 3.5-4 mm, glabrous. Fl. Sep.
