Plants small, slender, 6–10 mm high, yellowish green to yellowish brown, in loose tufts. Stems simple or somewhat branched, often covered with brownish rhizoids. Leaves erect to spreading, divaricate or slightly falcate-secund, 2–3 mm long, suddenly narrowed from a broad, ovate sheathing base to a channeled, long subula; margins mostly entire, serrulate at the extreme apex; costa flat, filling 1/5 – 1/3 the leaf base width and almost the entire subula, in cross section with several separate substereid bundles in the center enclosed by a row of large, thin-walled, hyaline cells on both surfaces; laminal cells thin-walled, smooth, oblong-hexagonal at the shoulder, elongate-rectangular near the base, marginal cells narrower; alar cells not differentiated. Paroicous. Perichaetial leaves not much differentiated from the upper vegetative leaves. Setae elongate, cygneous when moist, flexuose when dry, ca. 6 mm long, smooth; capsules yellowish brown, oblong-elliptic, smooth; stomata absent; opercula with a long and erect beak; annuli not well developed; peristome teeth inserted below the mouth, divided halfway down, vertically striate below, papillose above. Calyptrae cucullate, ciliate at the base. Spores finely papillose, 13–14 µm in diameter.

Habitat: on rotten wood or soil; Distribution: China, Bhutan, Nepal, and India.
