Campylopus atrovirens var. cucullatifolius J.-P. Frahm, Bryologist. 83: 574. 1980 [1981].

Plants of this variety are similar to those of Campylopus atrovirens var. atrovirens except that they are often found to be brownish green and to have stem leaves with cucullate tips. The tips of its perichaetial leaves are often found to be hyaline hairpointed although those of the stem leaves are sometimes also hyaline hairpointed.

Type. U.S.A.: Alaska, Eyerdam 5269.

Chinese specimens examined: GUANGXI: Xing-an Co., C. Gao 1632 (IFSBH); Shang-si Co., C. Gao 2146, 2255 (IFSBH). YUNNAN: Gong-shan Co., M. Zang 20 (KUN); Fugong, Wang 703 (KUN); Zhong-dian Co., S.-K. Chen 90–16 (KUN).

Habitat: on rocks; Distribution: China, Japan, and North America.
