Perennial herbs, more or less woody at base. Flowering stems erect to decumbent, slender. Radical leaves alternate in dense rosette, stipules membranous at base, adnate to petiole, leaf blade 1–3 times trichotomously parted. Cauline leaves few. Inflorescence cymose, corymbose, or paniculate, rarely a solitary flower. Flowers small. Hypanthium campanulate with 5 persistent erect valvate sepals. Petals 5, white or purple. Disk inconspicuous, covering the hypanthium half way and with long hairs at the margin. Stamens 5, opposite the petals. Carpels 4–10 or more, inserted on a narrow and elongated receptacle. Fruits achenetum. Achenes not exserting from the hypanthium, stylodia basal or lateral, deciduous with capitate stigma. Seed erect.

A genus of about six species distributed in Asia, North America. Represented in Pakistan by one species.
