Perennial with long, woody vertical tap root. Leaf pilose and glandular hairy, radical leaves twice or three times tripartite, not withering in fruit. Stipules entire at margin. Petioles 1.5–2.5 cm, leaf blades 1–3 cm, segments with rounded apex. Cauline leaves few or absent, resembling radical leaves but smaller and less divided. Flowering stems many, tufted, indurate, spreading or ascending, 6–10(–18) cm tall. Inflorescence pilose, glandular hairy, axillary, compressed at anthesis, later becoming lax, paniculate-corymbiform, many flowered. Bracts and bracteoles linear, 1–2 mm. Flowers 3–5 mm in diam. Hypanthium campanulate or pyriform, 2–4.5 mm,. Sepals erect, triangular-ovate, equaling or slightly longer than hypanthium, apex acute. Petals white, linear or spatulate, 2–3 mm, shorter than or equaling sepals, apex rounded. Filaments glabrous, shorter than petals. Carpels (5-)6–8(–10), free. Achenes brown, shining, ovoid, ca. 1 mm.

Fl.Per.: June-Aug.

Holotype: In sabulosis insularum fl. Tschuja ad ostium fl. Tschegan, Fl. Junio. Ledebour s. n. (LE). Isotype (K!).

Distribution: Pakistan, Central Asia, China, Mongolia and Russia.

Grows in sands and gravels on river banks.
