Shrubs or small trees, armed or unarmed, young branches glabrous or pubescent. Leaves alternate, imparipinnate; leaflets entire, opposite, ovate, elliptic, obovate to roundish. Inflorescence a raceme. Bract small. Calyx with 5 subequal teeth, 2 upper slightly shorter. Corolla mostly yellow. Vexillum roundish, with 2 small swellings above the claw. Stamens diadelphous, 9+1, vexillary stamen free. Ovary stipitate, many ovuled; style incurved, bearded inside in the upper portion; stigma large, below the apex. Fruit inflated, stipitate, with papery walls; seeds numerous.
A genus with 26 species, distributed in southern Europe, N.Africa and West and Central Asia.
