I.C. Hedge
Dwarf aromatic shrub with red punctate glands on most parts. Leaves undivided, entire, flat, linear-oblong to elliptic, with a distinct primary vein and faint secondary veins, sessile, clustered at nodes or not. Verticillasters 2-6-flowered, many, forming rather slender long spikes. Bracts ± linear, shorter than calyces. Calyx tubular-campanulate, regular or almost so, 15-nerved, glabrous at throat or with a pilose fringe; teeth ± triangular, equal. Corolla bilabiate; upper lip straight, emarginate; lower lip ± equal to upper, 3-lobed; tube straight, exannulate. Stamens 4; filaments ± straight; anterior pair ± exserted from tube, posterior pair included; thecae 2-locular, almost parallel. Style shortly 2-lobed. Nutlets oblong, apically attenuate into a short beak.
Monotypic. With clear affinities to Micromeria and Satureja.
