Caespitose perennials. Leaf-blades convolute. Spikelets solitary; lemmas of the 2 florets coriaceous, connate by their margins and with abundant long hairs in the lower half, forming a rigid, cylindrical tube, the upper half free, erecto-patent, glabrous; paleas connate by their backs below, much longer than the lemmas, erect, glabrous.
1 species in the Mediterranean region; probably introduced in Kashmir.
