SURAYYA KHATOON

Trees or shrubs. Flowers mostly bisexual, axillary or extra-axillary, solitary, fasciculate or cymose. Sepals 3, small, valvate. Petals 6, biseriate, valvate, outer smaller, scarcely larger than sepals, inner much larger, thin. Stamens numerous, loculi elliptic, extrorse, connective not much produced beyond the locules, more or less apiculate. Carpels numerous, free, 1-many ovuled. Monocarps globose or oblong, 1-many seeded, stipitate.

A genus of about 40 species, distributed in India, Malaya and Australia, possibly represented in Pakistan by 1 species.
