Perennial. Inflorescence a dichasium. Sepals 5, free. Petals 5, deeply bilobed. Stamens 10. Styles 5. Capsule dehiscing by 5 bifid blunt teeth. Seeds reniform, tuberculate.
A monotypic genus, very similar to Stellaria but differing in the number of styles and capsule teeth. Distributed in Europe and temperate Asia.
