Perennials with entire to subentire petiolate leaves. Flowers regular, disposed in lax terminal racemes or corymbs, ebracteate. Calyx 5-fid, tubular-campanulate, enlarging and ± membranous in fruit. Corolla infundibuliform. Capsule (pyxidium) dehiscing by means of a lid, included. Seeds many, compressed.
6 species, from Turkey to Caucasia and C. Asia, the Himalaya and China. Closely related and of similar facies to Hyoscyamus. Represented in Pakistan by 1 species.
