Deciduous trees. Leaves opposite, imparipinnate or bipinnate. Flowers paniculate, few, purplish-yellow, dull purple to lilac. Calyx truncate or 2-5-lobed, lobes sometimes unequal. Corolla 5-lobed; lobes subequal, obtuse. Functional stamens 4,attached near the base of corolla. Disk present. Capsule elongated, dehiscing loculicidally by 2 valves; septum pitted. Seeds winged.
24 species in tropical Asia and Africa. Represented in Pakistan by 1 species.
