Erect to scandent shrubs. Leaves opposite, compound. Flowers in terminal racemes or panicles. Calyx unequally 5-lobed. Corolla 2-lipped,tube broad, dilated towards base, usually curved; lobes 5, spreading, subequal. Stamens present or not Disk annular. Capsule linear, subterete, dehiscing by 2 valves loculicidally. Seeds discoid, with a broad hyaline wing.
