Annual, 5-50 cm high, divaricately branched from the base; branches elongated, ascending, the lower ones approximate; stem and branches covered with crisp hairs; leaves short, linear to oblong-linear, sessile, flat, uniformly hairy on all sides, grey or greyish-green, woolly; inflorescence paniculate with divaricate or pendulous branches. Flowers in glomerules of 3; perianth covered with sub-appressed hairs woolly, winged in fruit above the middle; wings well-developed, scarious, broadly obovate to oblong-oval, narrowed at base, with unequally toothed margin, the longitudinal veins all equally developed; seeds rounded ovate.

Lectotype: SE Iran, Kerman, 20 Aug. 1892, Bornmüller 5074 (LE).

Distribution: C.Asia, Iran and Pakistan.

Probably only a variety of the following species with similar pubescence, but broader almost orbicular fruiting perianth wings. Hedge (in Rech.f., Fl. Iran. 172: 107. 1997) considered the two species to be the same.
