Tree; branches stellately pubescent to tomentose, becoming glabrous. Leaves elliptic, acuminate, stellately pubescent beneath, 7-14.8 cm long, 3.2-6.2 cm broad, petiole 6-10 mm. Panicles c. 11 cm long. Hypanthium c. 5 mm long, c. 10 mm broad, pubescent, 12-ribbed, 6 of which obscure in fruit. Sepals 3 mm long, 3 mm broad, in fruit reflexed. Capsule 10-12 mm in diameter, rugose.

Type: Described from Burma.

Distribution: A native of Burma. Cultivated elsewhere.

Planted in the plains. Not common.
