Leaves trifoliolate; lateral leaflets broad, lanceolate to ovate lanceolate, 3-5.5 x 10-20 mm, undulate, subacuminate, terminal. Flowers 1-2 axillary. Calyx cupular, c.10 mm long. Corolla broad, bright yellow; lobes spreading, throat minutely pubescent. Filaments of long stamens 25 mm long, base pubescent. Style c. 25 mm long, stigma 2-lobed, c. 1.5 mm long. Capsule up to 25 cm long.

Distribution: A native of Argentine & Brazil. Cultivated elsewhere.
