RUBINA AKHTER
A small shrub upto 2 m tall. Leaves small, 1.5-2.5 cm long, oblong or obovate, pubescent, subsessile. Peduncle 5-20 mm long, slender, minutely pubescent. Bracts c. 3 mm long, linear, longer than ovaries. Bracteoles obsolete or minute. Calyx ± 3 mm long, lobes obsolete, margin, undulate. Corolla c. 10 mm long, bilipped, pale yellow, glabrous; tube very short, strongly gibbous. Stamens and stigma exserted. Berries connate, c. 4 mm long, globose, red.
Fl. Per.: June-July.
Type: Sibiria orientalis, Pallas.
Distribution: C. Asia, Hindukush, N.W. Himalaya, Tibet.
Found in alpine Himalaya usually above 3000 m.
