Erect plant with a long tap root, swollen in older plants. Stems up to 50 cm, glabrous. Radical leaves long-petioled, linear to oval or elliptic, 2-4 cm long. Cauline leaves linear, sessile, 1-4 cm long. Flowers solitary, terminal. Calyx segments linear, .5-10 mm long. Corolla funnel-shaped, blue, about as long as the calyx segments. Style shorter than the corolla. Capsule narrowly oblong, contracted at the top; dehiscence just below the apex. Seeds ellipsoid.

Distribution: Afghanistan, Pakistan and India.
A high altitude plant.
