    Related to R. bungei Trautv. From which it can be distinguished by the pedicels which never exceed the calyx, the larger fruiting calyx lobes (c. 3.5 mm vs. 2-2.5 mm) and the obliquely (not horizontal) positioned nutlets.

    Type: ‘Habitat in Hispania inter Gaditanum et Madritium’, coll. Ingot. Linn. Herb. No 181.11 181.12 (LINN).

    Distribution: Mediterranean area, Turkey, Soviet C. Asia, Caucasus, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Ladak.

    A variable species in form and habit. May hybridize with R. leiocarpa and R. bungei (see notes to next species).
