Lectotype: China, Plains of Tibet, Strachey & Winterbottom 47 (K!), Iso (BM!).

Grows on fairly dry slopes, rocks and among stones, between 3000-5500 m; Distribution: Pakistan, India, Xizang and China.

Aconogonon tortuosum var. tibetanum is more common than the type variety in our area. However, both the varieties are sympatric in Baltistan where both the varieties probably hybridize as few intermediates are also met with. However, in Chitral only the former variety is present.
