Annual to 20 cm, branched, with scattered hairs. Lower leaves linear-lanceolate to oblanceolate, the others linear acute, gradually passing into bracts. Inflorescence slender and rather loose; bracts mostly longer than fruits. Perianth of 1 segment. Stamens 1-3. Fruit oval or somewhat obovate, (2.5-) 3-4 x (1.8-) 2-3 mm, with convex outer face, branched- or stellate-hairy, rufous-brown, shortly broad-triangular at summit, wings entire or slightly and remotely denticulate, yellowish, opaque, 1/10 - 1/5 as broad as the kernel.

Fl. Per.: April-May.

Type: Uzbekistan sands around Chandur, S.E. of Karaul. (TASH).

Distribution: Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
