Perennial stemless herb. Leaves all basal, petiolate, 10-20 cm long, leaf blade very leathery, orbicular, cordate, obtuse, entire or crenulate, 5-nerved, nerves thick, 10-35 x 11-30 cm, glabrous above or sparsely papillose, ± papillose below. Scape 1-5, glabrous or laxly papillose, up to 1 m tall; inflorescence a pedunculate leafless panicle. Flowers bracteate, pedicel 2-3.5 mm long, 2-2.5 mm across. Perianth segments 6, 2-2.5 mm long. Fruit 8-10 mm across, almost orbicular wings broad, brownish red, notched at both ends.

Grows on drier slopes, between 2500-4000 m; Distribution: Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and Xizang.
