Panicum sumatrense Roth ex Roem. & Schult., Syst. Veg. 2:434. 1817. (Panicum miliare auct. non Lam. 1791; Panicum attenuatum Willd., Enum. Pl. 1033. 1809, non Moench 1802; Panicum simplex Rottl. ex Trin., Gram. Pan. 216. 1826, non Willd. 1825) is thought to be the cultivated form of Panicum psilopodium from which it differs by its slightly larger subpersistent spikelets and tighter panicle. According to Sultan & Stewart, Grasses W. Pak. 1:26. 1958 it is in cultivation in Pakistan, but no specimens have been seen.
