Astragalus moorcroftiana Wall.Caragana moorcroftiana Benth.
Copiously branched shrub, branches covered with dense grey hairs, ending in spines. Stipules spiny, persistent after the leaves fall. Leaves 3.5-5.0 cm long, ending in spines. Leaflets 11-17, c. 8-13 mm long, obovate, obtuse, awned, grey silky on both sides, finally nearly glabrescent; caducous. Flowers in axillary racemes; pedicellate. Calyx c. 6-7 mm, grey silky. Corolla yellow, vexillum oblong. Lomentum c. 7-10 cm long, 5-6 seeded, densely pubescent.
Holotype: Ladak, Moorcroft, Wall. 5933, ex Herb. Benthamianum (K).
Distribution: Kashmir; Tibet, E. Himalayas and Central Asia.
