Type: Spain, Loefling (LINN).  
Distribution: S. Europe, Egypt, Arabia, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan Himalayas to India.  
Orobanche cumana Walk. is a smaller form, c. 6.5 mm tall, while Orobanche wendelboi and Orobanche clavata Schi.-Czeika are taller forms with yellowish or yellowish-brown flowers (cf. description, Schi.-Czeika l.c.) c. 20-25 mm long, but insertion of stamens in the middle of corolla-tube is very distinctive.
