Psammogeton cabulicus (Wag.) E. Nasir, Stat. nov.
Psammogeton canescens ssp. cabulicus Wag.
Plants c. 30 cm tall, branched, pubescent. Leaves pinnate; pinnae oval to ovate, up to 1 cm long; margin deeply toothed; apex mucronate; lower leaves long petioled. Peduncles up to 8 cm long, lateral and terminal. Involucre of 5-6 white, linear to lanceolate bracts. Rays 8-12, pilose. Involucel of 5-6 lanceolate bractlets, apex acuminate. Fruit ovoid, 1.5-2 mm long, hispid; hairs glochidiate; fruit pedicels 3-4 mm long.
Type: Afghanistan, Bagrami, Neubauer 290 (W).
Distribution: Afghanistan, W. Pakistan.
