Stem papillose and glandular. Leaves 6-11 mm long, 3-12 mm broad, elliptic ovate to sub-orbiculate, mucronate, margin papillose and glandular; petiole 2-3 mm long, glandular. Bract ovate. Sepals c. 2 mm long, up to 3 mm in fruit, broadly ovate, glandular, persistent, margin white. Petals shorter than the sepals, clawed. Stamens 7, monadelphous at the base; filaments 1 mm long, persistent, base fimbriate and dilated. Ovary c. 1 mm broad, styles 2, linear, c. 1 mm long. Cocci c. 1.3 mm broad, plano-convex, glabrous, partially enclosed in the calyx. Seeds compressed, c. 2 mm long, white.

Fl. Per.: March-September.

Type: Aden, near the sea, Hooker fil. (K).

Not very common in the Punjab plains. Usually found in sand, up to 1000 m. alt. s.m.
