Shrub 3-4 m tall, seeking support; trunk sometimes 10 cm thick. Branchlets pubescent, green, bark on older branches grey, much cracked on trunk. Leaves opposite, simple, up to 6 cm long and 3.5 cm broad, ovate to subcordate, acute or acuminate, sometimes rounded, velvety tomentose on both sides; petiole 5-10 mm long. Flowers in many-flowered, trichotomous, pubescent cymes; pedicels c. 5 mm. Bracts 1-2 mm long. Calyx pubescent, teeth 5-6, 1-2 mm long. Corolla white, tube 10-15 mm long, lobes c. 7, 10-15 mm long, lanceolate, acute. Berry usually simple, ellipsoid, almost straight, c. 10 mm long and 6 mm in diameter, containing 2 seeds.

Distribution: Base of the Himalaya, Deccan. In Pakistan Karot forest.
