Corydalis murreeana Jafri, sp. nov..

Corydalis murreeana
Illustration

Valde similis Corydalis diphyllae Wall. sed racemi densi, nec laxi, brevi; flores tenui, c. 15 mm longi, calcari tenui hand recurvo; petala postica ad apicem tenuia, oblonga, acuta vel mucronulata, nec ad marginem dilata.

Fl.Per.: March July.

Type: Pakistan, Murree hills, 2000 m, flowers pink to whitish, 20. IV. 1917, R.R. & I.D. Stewart 1647 (RAW).

Distribution: N.W. Himalayas (Murree eastwards to Kulu valley).

Very similar to Corydalis diphylla Wall. but remarkably different in its naorrw limb of upper (posterior) petal. Petiole longer. Flowers small, c. 15 mm long, pinkish-purplish to whitish, usually crowded on smaller racemes; spurs narrow, slender, slightly curved; limb of outer petal narrow, without dilated-winged margins towards the apex, c. 1.5 mm broad only, with acute or minutely acuminate apex. It seems more common in Pakistan hills than the previous species, which is more common in Kashmir and eastwards to Nepal. The flowers size resemble those of Corydalis griffithii Boiss. & Huet but leaves neither sessile nor petiolules longer than the petiole.
