Caragana aitchisonii PrainCaragana prainii Schneider
Large spiny shrub, branches minutely hairy, becoming glabrescent. Bark greenish-greyish, breaking up longitudinally. Leaf pinnately compound, rachis 1-5 cm long, tip spinescent; leaflets rarely 6, generally 8-10 (-14), elliptic, oblong, obovate, truncate, mucronateminutely pubescent to glabrescent; stipules 4-8-(10) mm long, spinescent. Inflorescence axillary, unifloral, peduncle and pedicel 1.3-3.5 cm long, peduncle longer than the pedicel. Calyx 7-8 mm long, minutely pubescent, teeth less than 1 mm, spinescent. Vexillum c. 1.8-2.0 cm long. Fruit 3.9-4.5 cm long, 4-6 mm broad, glabrous.

Distribution: Pakistan (Kurram valley, Chitral); Russia, Pamir Alai; Eastern Afghanistan.
