Astragalus bakaliensis Bunge in Arb.Naturf.Vir.Riga. 1:249. 1847. t.14.f.2.1848; Boiss.Fl.Or.2:13.1872; Ali in Biologia 7:13.1961.

Erect, branches minutely hairy, hairs white. Stipules free lateral, c. 3 mm, pilose externally. Leaf imparipinnately compound, rachis (including petiole) c. 2.0-4.5 cm long, minutely pilose, petiole c. 9.0-18 mm long, petiolule up to 1 mm long, lamina c. 4-12 mm long, c. 2-4.5 mm broad, elliptic, oblong to narrowly obovate, entire, obtuse, minutely pilose on both sides. Inflorescence an axillary peduncled raceme, peduncle c. 2.5-7.0 cm long. Bracts c. 1.5 mm, pilose along the margins. Pedicel c. 1.0-1.5 mm, pilose. Calyx c. 4.0 mm long, pilose, teeth c. 2.0-2.5 mm long. Vexillum c. 7-8 mm long. Wing c. 6.5-7.0 mm long. Keel c. 5-6.5 mm long. Fruit sessile, c. 2.5-3.5 cm long, c. 2.5 mm broad, falcate, partially bilocular, hairs appressed and erect, seeds 20-30.

Distribution: Pakistan, (Baluchistan); Afghanistan; Persia; U.S.S.R. (Kyzyl Kum).
