Astragalus gahiratensis Ali in Bot. Notiser. 118:90. 1965.
Root thick and woody. Stem much reduced. Leaf imparipinnately compound, petiole c. 1.7-4.0 cm long, rachis c. 1.7-7.0 cm long, pubescent, hairs white. Leaflets 13-19, lateral leaflets opposite, c. 7-32 mm long, c. 2-3 mm broad, linear, entire, acute, glabrous above, pubescent below; petiolule less than 1 mm, stipules lateral, c. 1-1.5 cm long, glabrous, rarely scantily pubescent. Inflorescence a 3-8-flowered peduncled raceme, peduncle c. 3-7 cm long, bracts c. 4-7 mm long, pubescent, hairs black; pedicel c. 1-2 mm long. Calyx cup towards the upper side c. 7 mm, towards the lower side c. 1 cm long, teeth c. 3-5 mm long, pubescent, hairs mostly black. Corolla greenish white. Vexillum c. 26-29 mm long. Wing c. 24-26 mm long. Keel c. 21-22 mm long. Ovary c. 6 mm long, semibilocular, glabrous; stipe c. 4 mm long. Mature fruit not seen.

Distribution: Endemic to Chitral.
