Astragalus alitschuri O. Fedtsch., Fl.Pamir. 28. 1903. Gontscharov & Borissova in Komarov, Fl. U.R.S.S. 12:543.1946; Ali in Phyton 12: 180.1967.

Woody perennial herb. Stem reduced, the short branches forming mats, young branches pubescent, hairs appressed. Leaf imparipinnately compound, 2-5 cm long, rachis and petiole pubescent, leaflets 7-9, 4-9 mm long, obovate-oblong, rarely ovate to oblong, obtuse, pubescent on both sides; stipules 1.5-2.5 mm long, black and white pubescent. Inflorescence a peduncled raceme, peduncle 4-10 cm long, black and white pubescent. Bracts c. 1.5 mm long, white and black pubescent. Pedicel c. 1 mm long. Calyx 12-13 mm long, pubescent, hairs black or black and white, teeth 1-2 mm long. Corolla yellow. Vexillum 19-20 mm long. Wing 18-19 mm long. Keel 14-15 mm long. Fruit sessile, 10-17 mm long, 3.5-4 mm broad, densely lanate, hairs long, spreading, bilocular.

Type: In the valley of the river Alitschur, on stony slopes from Chatyrtash to the lake Sassyk, 17.7.1901, B.A. and O.A.Fedtschenko (LE-not seen).

Distribution: Pakistan (Chitral); Kashmir?, Russia, Pamir Alai.
