  • Saxifraga odontophylla Wall. ex Hook.f. & Thoms

    Herb, 15-30 cm tall. Basal leaves 1:2.5 x 2-4.5 cm, reniform, margin lobed; lobes 7-13, rounded or acute. Leaves glabrous or sparsely ciliate. Petiole of basal leaves c. 10 cm long, sparsely hairy. Cauline leaves 5-10 mm long, lobate to entire, sessile to sub-petiolate. Bulbils in the axils of basal leaves. Flowers 3-6, white, pedicellate. Pedicel 5-20 mm long, glandular villous. Bracts 2-3 mm long, lanceolate, sparsely glandular. Sepals 4 mm long, ovate, ciliate. Petals c. 1 cm long, spathulate, crimson veined or red-spotted towards base. Filaments c. 4 mm long. Style 1.5 mm long. Capsule ovoid, c. 6 x 4 mm. Seeds elongated, smooth.

    Fl.Per.: July-August.

    Type: Described from the Himalayas.

    Distribution: Western temperate Himalayas, at an alt. of c. 3300 m. Usually found in shady locations.
