Panicum stapfianum Fourc. in Trans. R. Soc. S. Afr. 21:76. 1932. (based on Panicum minus Stapf in Dyer, Fl. Cap. 7:410. 1899, non Nash 1895) is a South African species in cultivation at Tandojam (J.J. Norris 165 (K, RAW). It very closely resembles Panicum coloratum from which it differs only in habit; the leaves are narrower and most of them are confined to a distinctive basal tuft. It does not seem to have become naturalised.
