16a. Geranium pratense ssp. stewartianum var. stewartianum
YASIN J. NASIR
Plant dense glandular hairy, with brownish yellow hairs, especially on the shoots and inflorescence. Bracts 4.5-11 (-13) mm long.
Fl. Per.: July-August.
Type: Tilel Vy., ± 9000', R.R. & I.D. Stewart 18569 (holo. RAW), as to left hand specimen only.
The holotype is a mixture of two taxa. The right hand specimen is a depauperate shoot of Geranium himalayense. Occasionally plants may be met with which are very glandular and with small flowers (R.R. & I.D. Stewart 18476). Plants from the Khillanmarg area (Kashmir) have unusually narrow and long leaf segment lobes (see Fig. 4, E), otherwise they do not differ radically from the type variety. The stipules may sometimes be bifid at the apex (R.R. Stewart 21552). The seed may be described as: oblong-ovoid, c. 3.4 mm long, dark brown, minutely reticulate (Azam & Shakeel s.n. PPFI-B).
