A perennial plant with a ± woody base. Stolons lacking. Branches dichotomous, compact, covered with the persistent remains of the old leaves. Leaves imbricate, in dense rosettes, isomorphic, 2.5-14 x 0.5-4 mm long, obovate-spathulate, acutish, cartilaginous, keeled, farinose, margin basally sparse ciliate. Scape solitary, 14-80 mm long, glandular-pubescent, 2-9-flowered. Bracts 2-2.5 mm long, ovate-oblong, shorter than the pedicel, glandular-pubescent. Pedicel up to 10 mm long, glandular-pubescent. Flowers white to pale pink. Calyx broad campanulate, 2.5-3 mm long, equalling the corolla tube, glandular-villous, 1/3 rd cleft; lobes obtuse. Corolla limb 8-11 mm broad; lobes ± 2.7 mm long, broad obovate to suborbiculate, sometimes retuse, up to 3 mm broad. Style c. 1 mm long. Capsule exceeding the calyx. Seeds c. 2 mm long, 2-3 in number, ± ovoid in outline, minutely vesiculose.
