Holotype: Described from Japan, Thunberg 4249! (UPS).
Distribution: Kashmir to Yunnan, E. China, Formosa, Ryukyu Islands, Japan, Sumatra, Java and N.S. Wales (Port Jackson, introduced).
The type subspecies bears a morphological resemblance to Lysimachia procumbens Baudo (=Lysimachia deltoidea Wight), which according to Bentvelzen (1962) differs in the pedicels longer than the leaves and larger corolla.
