Paracaryum inconspicuum Brand
Annual up to 28 cm tall. Stems several, appressed hairy with hairs less than 0.5 mm. Basal and lower cauline leaves with petiole 10-23 mm long, lamina oblanceolate to narrow oblong, 20-30 x 7-12 mm, lower surface uniformly covered with ± appressed retrorse hairs, upper mixed with longer stiff hairs arising from a tuberculate base; upper cauline leaves smaller. Pedicels c. 1.5 mm in flower, upto 12 mm in fruit, slender, recurved. Calyx lobes oblong or narrowly so, c. 1.5 mm long, pubescent, upto 3 mm long in fruit. Corolla blue, c. 2 mm long; lobes ovate, erect. Nutlets c. 2 mm long, ovoid, wing narrow, denticulate at margin. Dorsal middle area with short glochidiate apendages. Style c. 0.5 mm long.

Type: Afghanistan, Griffith 5976 (K, isotype GH).
Distribution: Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan.
The gathering I.I. Chaudhri 12 is tentatively placed here. It differs in its smaller habit and obtuse calyx lobes. On futher collection, this might prove to be a new taxon.
