  • Bellevalia ciliata var. stenophylla Boiss.
  • Hyacinthus saviczii (Woron.) Vved.

    Bulb c. 2.5-4.5 cm in diameter. Leaves 3-6, longer than scape, 15-25 cm long, up to 23 mm broad, oblong-lanceolate, glaucous above, margin short-ciliate to scabrous. Scape 1 (-3), including raceme 15-30 cm long, 15-30 flowered, longer in fruits. Lower flowering pedicels 10-20 mm spreading, perianth 7-10 mm long, campanulate, white, becoming grayish-brown, lobes slightly shorter than the tube. Anthers 1.5 mm, violet. Capsule 9-12 mm, obovate-oblong, retuse at the tip.

    Fl.Per.: March-April.

    Type: “Supra Ashkhabad ad fines Persiae, in juniperetis prope Tchajolz, 2600-3300 m; descr. Ex speciminibus in sect. Turkestanica Hort. Bot. Tiflisiensis cultis, bulbos W. Savicz attulit” (TBI).

    Distribution: Iraq, Iran, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Pakistan (Baluchistan).

    Weed of cultivated fields. According to Wendelbo (l.c.) morphologically there is a lot of variation in size and shape of fruits as well as in length of pedicels.
