Glabrous perennial. Stems 6-15(-25) cm, usually erect, sometimes ascend. simple, infrequently branched, quadrangular, shining. Leaves 10-40 x 1-3 mm, linear, narrow at the base, acute, prominently 1-nerved, with the midrib and margins thickened, glabrous occasionally ciliate at the base. Leaves often erect, frequently in axillary fascicles. Flowers 1(-2). Bracts glabrous, scarious at the margins. Pedicel slender. Sepals 4-5.5 mm, lanceolate, acute. Petal 2-lobed. Capsule as long as the sepals or slightly longer.

Type: Western Tibet (?), T. Thomson..
Distribution: Afghanistan, N. Pakistan to W. Tibet.
Alpine plant with solitary flowers. growing at alt. 3350-4420 m.
