Melandrium longicarpophorum Kom.
Perennial 10-30 cm, Stems sbender, erect, sparsely pubescent Radical leaves oval; cauline 30-80 x 10-18 mm, elliptic to ovate-lanceolate, attenuate, pubescent, 1-nerved, hirsute. Cauline leaves lanceolate, sessile, reducing in size upwards. Flowers erect at anthesis, 1-3 (-4). in number. Calyx 17-20 elongate-campanulate, hirsute-glandular, teeth ovate, acute with a hyaline, ciliate margin; nerves purplish. Petal lilac, limb 4-5 mm, bifid, or further divided, base of claw vinous. Capsule 12 x 9-10 mm, ovoid, dehiscing by 5-teeth. Seeds rent grooved at the back, tuberculate.

Distribution: Pamir-Alai, Afghanistan, N. Pakistan.
Also recorded from Kurram, Aitchison 6(G) by Bocquet (op. cit.). S. longicarpophora differs from S. indica Roxb. in its longer calyx and lanceolate cauline leaves.
