Robust perennial up to 40. cm tall, with a branched woody stock. Stems erect to ± ascending, simple or branched, greyish-green, glabrous. Leaves 10-50 x 1-15 mm, linear, congested basally, decreasing in size upwards, glabrous, sometimes margin sparsely ciliate, apex acute to acuminate, midrib and usually the margins thick. Flowers white or pinkish fading white, solitary. Bracteoles 4-6 (-8), 10-12 mm, aristate to cuspidate, about 1/3 the calyx length, with a scarious margin. Calyx 30-37 mm, contracted at the mouth, glabrous; teeth 6-8 mm, linear-lanceolate, acute, with a ciliate hyaline margin. Petals c. 32 mm, white or tinged pink, limb clearly exserted, fimbriate or ebarbulate.

Fl. Per.: May to August.

Type: Described from Armenia.

Distribution: Turkey, Aegean Islands, N.W. Africa, Caucasia, Turkestan, Iran Pakistan.

Found throughout Pakistan, except the Sind Province, on dry slopes from 600-2400 m.
