Annual-biennial, up to 8.0 cm high, glabrous, green herb. Stem simple or branched, branches from base or above or both, densely crowded with leaves. Basal leaves indistinct. Caulitie leaves imbricate and densely crowded, 0.75-2.0 x (0.3-) 0.4-0.8 cm, lanceolate, recurved, margin cartilaginous, entire, acute-acuminate, connate at base, sheath forming a tube.Inflorescence terminal, cl ustered, 2-many flowered. Flowers tubular-campanulate, 0.75-1.80 cm long, sessile-subsessile. Calyx 0.4-1.25 cm long, tube longer than lobes, (0.2-)0.3-1.0 cm long, lobes 0.175-0.75 x 0.1-0.2 cm, lanceolate, entire, acuminate. Corolla up to 1.8 cm long, blue, 5-lobed, 0.5-1.25 (-1.4) cm long, lobes 0.2-0.4 x 0.1-0.2 cm, ovate-obovate, entire, obtuse, plicae 0.1-0.2 x 0.05-0.1 cm, obovate (-ovate), crenate, obtuse. Stamens 5, filaments filiform, winged at base, adnate at middle or at the base of corolla, anthers dorsifixed, bilobed. Ovary 0.3-0.6 x 0.1-0.15 cm, lanceolate-oblanceolate, stipitate, style present, stigma bifid, coiled, papillose. Nectaries at base of ovary.Capsule stalked, 0.4-0.7 x 0.15-0.25 cm, lanceolate-oblanceolate, seeds numerous, brown, ovoid, reticulate.
