Annual herb, to 50 cm tall, sparsely pubescent; stems much branched. Leaves ovate to elliptic, 3-6 cm long, 2-4 cm wide, apically acuminate or acute, basally cuneate or broadly cuneate, entire or dentate, glabrate; petiole 1-5 cm long. Pedicel 5-12 mm long. Flower with calyx divided about halfway, 4-5 mm long, the lobes deltoid to broadly lanceolate, ciliate; corolla pale yellow or white, spotted and pubescent in the throat, 6-8 mm long; anthers bluish, sometimes fading yellow, 1.5-2.5 mm long. Berry 1.2 cm across, loosely enveloped in the fruiting calyx; fruiting pedicel 10-25 mm long; fruiting calyx ovoid, 1.5-2.5 cm across, 10 ribbed; seeds discoid, 1.5-1.5-1.7 mm across.
