    Annual herbs, erect, 5-120 cm tall, with a tap root. Stems terete, soft-pilose with spreading hairs and glands, viscid-tomentose particularly on younger parts and on inflorescence axes. Leaves ovate-oblong, chartaceous, 9-11×3.5-4 cm, apex obtuse to apiculate, base attenuate, margins closely doubly serrate, densely silky-villous on both surfaces with soft multicellular hairs and glands, veins 5-7 pairs. Heads in terminal, narrow, compact, spiciform panicle, subsessile to pedunculate. Involucre campanulate, bracts in 3 or 4 series, outer ones shorter, linear-lanceolate, 3-4×0.6-0.8 mm, densely soft-villous and with multicellular hairs and glands; inner ones linear, 5-6×0.2-0.3 mm, margins scarious, ciliate. Central florets pinkish-purple apically, whitish or yellowish at base, 3.5-4.5 mm long, with 5 triangular lobes, lobes pubescent and with sessile glands. Outer florets 3.5-4.5 mm long, 2- or 3-lobed, glandular. Receptacle convex, alveolate, glabrous, 1.8-2 mm across. Achenes oblong, 0.8×0.2-0.3 mm, pubescent. Pappus white, 3-4 mm long.
